Biography

Born in Oxford, Edu Hawkins is a UK-based photographer who specialises in music photography. Hawkins has photographed several different genres of music – from Rock & Pop to Contemporary Free Jazz and World Music.

Having completed a History of Art Degree at the University of Leeds, Hawkins learned under the guidance of David Redfern,  labelled ”the greatest jazz photographer in the world’ by Buddy Rich. Hawkins has photographed a variety of events from The London Jazz Festival, to The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.

‘Edu has photographed some of the greatest blues and rock musicians alive today’ (Jo Theones, BBC) such as BB King, Jeff Beck and Pearl Jam, as well as a variety of artists from different genres - from Classical maverick Nigel Kennedy to Pop veterans Simon and Garfunkel.

The pictures seen in the ‘Gallery’ section represent a small collection of Hawkins’ photographs of some of these world-class musicians, as well as some lesser-known artists and recent additions.
